New Wave of Cyber Attacks

So far this year we have seen cyber attacks on some pretty high profile companies. Most notably Sony, Lock Head Martin and now the IMF. to name a few. After reading many articles on these attacks I get the sense that these attacks aren’t the usual smash and grab that the security industry is use to. These recent attacks seem to be very well thought out and the attackers know exactly what they are looking for. Take Sony for example the attackers took their time and not only went after credit card info but also user account information prompting Sony to shut down its entire network for close to a month.
With each new breach that comes into the news it seems more and more that these attack groups are taking their time and really going after information that is most important to companies. Its almost a game now of who can embarrass what company and how. Not only has the breaches embarrassed these companies but they have also damaged these companies reputations which seems to be a win-win for the attackers. I have a feeling that before the year is over we will see many more of these attacks that target high profile companies.

As always let me know your thoughts.
